changing from an Alltel plan to a Verizon plan. Questions?

My family and i are currently on a family plan for alltel. Everyone on the plan is done except for one person. We want to switch to Verizon.
1. is it possible to use alltel phones on the Verizon (NYSE: VZ) network?
2. can you have a contract with alltel then carry it over to and finish it on verizon?
3. one of us is looking at the htc touch pro 2 for verizon. it says it is only available online but how are we supposed to upgrade a phone if we only have an account for alltel not verizon? Wouldn't we have to go to the store and sign papers and stuff?
