Default How to get an Alltel phone in an area where they "don't offer service"?

I found an Alltel plan and phone that I love, but when I try to buy it and put my Zip Code in I get the "Sorry, we do not offer any service for your chosen carrier in zip code _______ ." message. I've read that this doesn't mean that I won't get service, it's just that they don't have a license to sell phones in my area or something. I've also read that you can buy a phone using another zip code or something, but then you have to use another area code. Is there any way to get an Alltel phone with my area code? Is it possible to drive to a store in another area code but buy a phone number with mine?

If there isn't a way, would having another area code mean that every time I called a number in my area code (i.e. my house) I would have to pay long distance or roaming charges?

Do you have a relative in an area that Alltel services? You won't have long distance or roaming charges with your cell phone. The only time I ever incurred roaming charges was when my phone wasn't updated recently and when we were in upstate NY and my calls bounced off the Canadian towers. However, when I called about the charges, they took them off my bill.

You won't be able to get a phone with your area code unless it's bought from a store in your area code. Depending on the plan you pick, you also get a certain number of phone numbers you can put in "my circle" and those calls don't use any of your plan minutes.

When I got my phone, they didn't have any stores in the city in which I live, so I got it where my mom lives. After they opened up in my city I went in and had my number changed to be local for when my cell phone was called from home.

If you have any other questions, feel free to email or im me.
