Canceling My Alltel Prepaid Cell Phone Service?

Right now I have an Alltel pay-as-you-go cell phone with about $10 of minutes on my phone currently while my wife also has about $10 left on her phone too. The bad part is that we are ready to go on about a month vacation (to various places in the U.S. but mostly NYC and Michigan) so we wanted a more "reliable" cell phone service, ending up with a Verizon (NYSE: VZ) 2 year contract because of their superior coverage and cool phones. So on to my main question: Can I cancel my service with Alltel and remove the $10 from both of the phones, or do I have to use up all of the $10 minutes on both phones before canceling?

well Verizon (NYSE: VZ) sucks get at&t it is better and better cellphones like the iphone and no you got to spend rhe 10 dollars on both phones
