Palm Tero, do i have to have alltel smart plan?

I have alltel as my phone service and I want to purchase a palm tero from ebay but would like to use it with my current alltel plan which is NOT a smartplan. Can I still have a plam tero without a smartplan?

Chances are you will have to have the plan that includes the web service.

It is not necessary to have a smartphone plan while using a smartphone. Data will deduct from the voice minutes on your service; so be careful, especially during the day. You may find representatives who will insist on selling you a smartphone plan... if you are calling in via the customer support line, hang up and try another representative. It might be better to go into a store, instead. In any case, explain (even if it isn't totally true) that you are interested in using the Treo more as a PDA rather than a smartphone, and this should help your case a lot.
