Anyone else on ALLTEL having this text messaging problem?

When I send text messages to this one friend, he receives the message twice...It is counting as two text messages. He went over on his text messaging last month because of it. He called Alltel and they said to tell me to turn my phone off and back on. Yet I do that nightly anyway. So has this happened to you?
