the android phone for verizon?

Okay i just saw the commercial about this new Motorola (NYSE: MOT) phone the droid thing.... is it like a smartphone? or kinda like the rogue where u just have to pay for the internet? and does anybody have a good estimate on how much it will cost? i just really need to know if it requires a smartphone plan or just the internet because im getting a new phone very soon.....! thanks for you help
