yes, i think the minimum for a service plan is $30/month and thats with few minutes (maybe 500??) and around 250 texts/month. It can get very expensive, I would recommend waiting until July 11th, and check online at the rates! Hope i helped, good luck!

Nope.

The iPhone is a smart phone. Data plan is $20 per month on top of the normal plan (whatever you chose).

The iPhone 3G bumped it to $30.

All the other smart phones (Blackberry, Palm, Tilt, etc.) are $30...so the original iPhone is cheaper in terms of data than all the other smart phones.

And yes, it's required.

This is 100% correct. It also does not include any minutes. You need to add the appropriate minute plan to the iPhone data plan. 3G iPhone data plans do NOT include any text messaging either. The current iPhone plan does, in increments, depending on the plan.
