no, you can use it with any SIM cards because you can jailbreak, activate (if it is locked) and unlock for any SIM with ZiPhone and it is a free software.

I pretty sure its a must if you want to be using the internet and it's other online features.

It's a must, whether you're upgrading or new.

Besides, there's no point to the 3G iPhone without it...

You wouldn't be able to use Safari, Mail, Weather, YouTube, Stocks, or Maps without Wi-Fi.

And if you can't use Maps, then the GPS is useless.

Definitely not worth the $200 to only be able to do all that on Wi-Fi (GPS is still useless cause you need to be moving...).

The data and minutes are bundled into one $70/month. So... yes it's a must.
