Would the Apple iPhone Connect to the internetwith a router signal?

I plan on getting an iPhone, and i have a router in my house. Would the iPhone work using a signal? Or would I have to pay a fee for the internet?

I think the iPhone should have wireless capabilities much like Palm (NSDQ: PALM) Treos. You should be able to find a wireless signal (i.e. your router signal or at hotspot). At the same time, if you have the iPhone, you'll probably want to be able to access internet anywhere and everywhere right? If so, you'd probably want to pay for internet.

But chances are Cingular will probably pre-package internet into whatever data plan you choose. After all, you'll need to have a data plan if you buy the iPhone, otherwise you'll render half its features useless. And 99.9% of data plans have an internet package within it.

So basically what I'm saying is this may not even be an issue when you get the data plan. I guess the only thing would be that when you're at home, you'd have the option of using your router signal.
