Will my iphone internet be 3g speeds if I use a gophone sim + data plan?

I read here (http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=50758) you can use a gophone sim on your iphone 3g and everything will work. Im just wondering if the internet will be 3g or not.
