well it depends on what you want.
A sidekick ha a built in keyboard while an iphone has an on-screen keyboard.

an iphone can run many more applications and is more web friendly, but costs a lot and only works on ATT,

sidekick has a removable battery, and has more flexible plans.

as for cheaper, the sidekick is definitely cheaper.
