Default Add sidekick data plan to normal plan with diff phone?

I recently bought a tmobile dash and currently have a plan with 1000 min for $40 a month and have unlimited texting for $15. Could I call and have the unlimited texting taken off the phone and add the sidekick data plan to it which i heard is only $20 a month if added to a voice plan. My main question is would the sidekick data plan work on a dash? thank you very much!
