Default Is it better to get a "locked" phone or "unlocked" phone?

what are the pros and cons of both? I have service with cingular, and my phone broke, and it seems the majority of the phones that I see on Ebay are all unlocked phones...but I don't know if I should get a locked or unlocked.

Unlocked. You won't be able to use a phone until you unlock it which can be a real pain in the butt if you don't know how. If you get one already unlocked it will save you the extra step!

Of course the unlocked phone! Because it can recognize a SIM card from any carrier. You can buy the unlocked phone from a third party vendor in its original and unlocked state. Good luck.
