Default best (blackberry...ect) atnt compatible smartphone?

I want to buy a phone that i can check my email, facebook on. I have had bad phones in the past, I want the best quality. Doesn't need to be extremely gadget-y. Just email and internet capabilities. It also must be compatible with ATNT. Thanks so much for your input!
