Do I have to have the unlimited data plan on verizon to get the Motorola Droid or

the HTC Droid Eris? I have a select plan with unlimited texting and what not but I am on a campus that has wi-fi all over so i dont want the unlimited data plan. can i still get either droid phone on my select plan for verizon?
