LG Shine signal problems?

I have a LG Shine phone and I am experiencing some problems with the signal. I can have full signal, but unless there is a little e in a box next to it, then it will not let me call out. Does anyone know why this is? Normally, I have to take the battery out and put it back in to get signal back. Thanks in advance!

um i think its a problem with your network.
if you have already contacted them about it than something with your phone is messed up and you should take it in to your service provider to get looked at.
