Should I get prepaid or a monthly plan for a Razr?

I want a prepaid plan but my friend says that a plan ends up being cheaper. She put to mind the daily access fee plus all the minutes. The daily access fee for my carrier is .99 and each minute is .10 . What should I do?

Depends on how much you'll use the phone and what plans are available to you. I used to have a Virgin Mobile (NYSE: VM) phone and as long as I put $20 on the phone every 3 months then my unused balance would carry forward. When I shut off the phone a little over 2 years ago I had a balance of over $100.

However, if you can get a plan that won't cost you a fortune and comes with unlimited night/weekend minutes and a number of free texts, then it would probably be worth it to get a plan rather than a prepaid.

If you think you might go crazy with texting or downloading ringtones and what not, maybe prepaid would be better because you can budget yourself.
