Default I had my T-mobile silver razr replaced, could this extend my contract?

My razr that I had for about eight months stopped charging itself, so I took it into a T-Mobile (NYSE: DT) store. They gave me a new battery and it worked fine after that but then the T-mobile salesperson decided to order me the newer Pearl Gray razr from T-mobile. I had to send back the old razr and got the other one as a replacement. Could this have possibly extended my contract, what do you think?
This wouldn't count as an upgrade for being the newer version of the V3, would it? Because it is a little different, it's more updated. It's myfaves compatiable unlike my old one and has some different skins, wallpapers, and more instant messaging programs than just having AIM like my old one.
I don't have phone insurance. But my phone was less than a year old. Does that cover me at all?
I did pay something but it wasn't anything too big. Like the price of buying a phone by itself.

Well do you have any phone insurance with your current plan with T-Mobile. If you have insurance then a replacement of your phone will cover you and you wouldn't need to extend your phone contract. However usually if you have insurance a deductible fee around $50 will be on your next bill to replace your cell phone.

However if you don't have phone insurance then you would have to pay the full retail price of the phone and that would be around $200 and up depending on the cell phone model. I suggest looking over your current cell phone plan and calling T-Mobile (NYSE: DT) Customer Care just to see if you had any charges for the replacement of your cell phone and if you had to renew your contract.
