To add to my trauma, it's only 2 months old and it's on a $79 contract. I'm paying an extra $10 a month to extend the warranty, do you think they'll fix it free of charge?

Instead of asking silly questions here why don't you go to the service centre and have the phone evaluated by them, they will give you a cost estimate.

I've dropped a lot of Nokia (NYSE: NOK) phones and I can tell you that they are the most robust you can find on the market. To crack the screen you really need to put your mind to it therefore is your fault and your're good to pay.
