Can I Upgrade My Mobile Before My Contract Expires on O2?

I have a 12 month mobile contract with O2, and it expires later than I expected. I have found a phone that I wan to upgrade too now, and so was wondering if there was a way I could update my phone before my contract ends.

Is this possible? Thanks.
