When will T-Mobile and Orange merge their transmitters so I can get better coverage?

The T-Mobile (NYSE: DT) and Orange merger looks like it's going ahead. But they're keeping their 'existing brands' for 18 months. Does this mean that T-Mobile customers with bad coverage (like me) will have to wait 18 months to also use Orange transmitters and get improved coverage?
