Palm treo 650 not charging?

I purchesed a slightly used Palm (NSDQ: PALM) treo 650 about 3 months ago. 1 month ago i experienced problems with it charging. I would plug the charger in and the red light would come on but it would only sometimes charge. I purchesed a new charger and that seemed to fix the problem for about a month. I reciently started to experience the same problems only worse. THe conection between the charger and the phone seems to be not working it will beep on and off that it is charging and even when the light stays on it only charges sometimes. What should i do? I am thinking of a new battery and new charger and i am going to try an in charger reset tonight. Any help i get is great. Thank You!!
