New phone trouble: Pantech Matrix, please answer.?

Okay so today I got a new phone, Pantech Matrix in red. Its a nice phone overall but there is a small problem.

When I first got the phone, I went on my AIM account on the IM feature. It was working fine and all. I was iming on it and everything. Usually before it brings me to my buddy list, a screen pops up that says Instant Messaging then another screen pops up that says ATT Aim version 4.6.28. Usually it will just go to my buddy list after that, but it is now frozen on this screen. The phone itself isn't frozen, I can exit out of it, but if I get an IM it will make the noise but stay on the screen. Nothing happens. I try to push a button, but nothing happens after that. Its confusng me because it was working fine before..

Is there any reason why it's doing this, does it normally do this, and how do I fix it and get to my AIM?
