Blackberry mobile phone sms text "Protocol error"-"Network out of order"?

My friend recently gave me his BlackBerry (NSDQ: RIMM) because it had a 2 year contract left on it and he got a new phone.
its good until april. it worked absolutly fine the past 2 months but now i cant send or recieve texts. Everytime i try i either get "Network out of order" or "Protocol error" . I havnt dropped or damaged it.i tried changing the network to gprs/gsm off and on switching. my friend told me to take the battery and the little T-Mobile (NYSE: DT) card out and make sure theyre clean, i did. But it still doesnt work. he asked to look at it yesterday cause he said i "think" i can fix it but he cannot control his curiousity so he snoops through texts and all that so at first i said no but i didnt have a fing clue on how to fix it and he said hes fixed that problem before in the past so even though i was sketchy as hell i let him mess with it, he took his sweetass time "fixing it" then after he gave it back it wouldnt even let me call anybody.Soooo i suspect he was offended that i didnt trust him with it the first time so now he thinks this is his little way of getting "revenge" thus i think he got trigger happy with certant settings or something but idk.
