The phone doesn't necessarily have to be new, I just need to be able to buy it unlocked.

I want to get an HTC HERO but ATT does not have one. Alas, ATT has a 3g HSDPA frequency of 850/1900, whereas parts of europe and asia have 900/2100. I looked on some websites to see if they had the US version, but none of them seem to sell it. They sell the european version that has 900/2100, but I want to be able to use 3G NOT JUST normal phone services and edge. Is there a way I can do this?
I know that TELUS mobile sells heroes with 850/1900, but they do not ship to the US. Is there a store somewhere that ships them to the US?

I found this and under the 3g section it says:
3G Network
HSDPA 900 / 2100
HSDPA 850 / 1900 - American version
(look at that section)
Does that mean if I buy it the 3g will work in the US with my unlimited data plan?
It's unclear whether they are selling the american version or not...
