(Sprint) How can I transfer my cell number to a new phone?

My old phone (Starcom) is broke and a friend gave me her old Sprint (NYSE: S) Samsung phone. How can I make and receive calls from her phone using my number? There is no sim card, just a bunch of numbers where one would normally be.
