Default I put a boost i455 sim card in a nextel i860?

everything works fine except I cant send text messages to non boost or non nextel phones, but i can receive them at the same time from anyone. I read somewhere that nextels aren't setup for boost messaging, and that I need to rewrite the program or something please explain what i need to do. Thank You
