Default Bad t-mobile service in my area Help!!?

I went to school and have T-Mobile (NYSE: DT) and the service here is bad, i dont get any service in my dorm room. I kno for like Verizon (NYSE: VZ) there is a phone number you can call and it sets the service to your area, does anyone kno anything you can do for a sidekick to get better service like that?

What you're referring to with Verizon (NYSE: VZ) is the "preferred roaming list" or PRL. It loads your phone's memory with the nearest towers. It has to do this because Verizon is a CDMA network, and it doesn't occur automatically.

T-Mobile, on the other hand, is a GSM network; just powering your handset down, and then powering it back up will accomplish the same thing. Of course, you've probably done that already at some point, but if you haven't, it's worth a try. Short of getting T-Mobile (NYSE: DT) to build a tower close to you, you'll get the best results if you can call away from obstructions. If you have a lot of electrical equipment, move away from it; if your dorm building is built with structural steel, it's going to block the signal to some degree. Try to stay away from things like fluorescent lamps, computers, appliances, and large metal objects (filing cabinets, metal desks, etc.) when making a call. Being near a window can sometimes help, too.

Good luck.
