is t- mobile customer service better than cingular?

I have a cingular phone, and have had the same number with them for 4.5 yrs. I have been very satisfied over the last 4 yrs, but now charges keep on coming up, rollover minutes disappearing, and only told me that insurance only covers the phone number that you have it on, not all phones on the account (after my $400 phone was stolen) I was attempting to get them to help me track the phone down, which they will not do. The service just seems to have gone downhill in a hurry... are they getting too big for their own good that they no longer have a personal feeling relationship that seems that they actually care for the customer? (sorry for asking too many questions)

any feedback on what I can do to get the phone back, or whether T-Mobile (NYSE: DT) is worth switching over to (which way will I have less problems/complications/stupid people?)
