Default cingular service?

I'm thinking about getting an iphone from cingular. I live in a small town that technically doesnt have service. On the map it says they use partner towers here. my dad's phone is from Verizon (NYSE: VZ) and they arent supposed to have service here either. Do you think I should be ok as far as service goes? I know internet will probably be fairly slow. Anyone suggest I not go with cingular or the iphone at all?

You could always try it out first, then return it within 30 days if the service does not work out. I would be more concerned with the service first, the device second. If you have an iPhone and no service, you might as well have an iBrick, as it will do you no good without service.

Actually, the iphone has a return policy seperate of AT&T...there is only a 15 day return policy for the iphone.

That is correct. I forgot that the original poster was considering the iPhone. I think that there is a restocking fee also, not sure if that is only at the Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) store, or if it applies to the AT&T store too.

yeah, the restocking applies across the board no matter what...10%. but even tho the iphone only has a 15 day window to return, the at&t serivice part is still the 30 day policy, so you can xchange the iphone for another and have some time to try it out.

The BEST solution to this is find someone near where you live who has the service, ask around town to see what phone companies people are using and what their service is like. Best not to even try if others are having problems.
