They merged, and AT&T used to have both before, land line service and wireless.

I was a customer back in 2000.

Yes, to be specific...SBC (landline services) was the parent company of AT&T Wireless (the original) and then aquired Cingular Wireless way back when. Well, AT&T Wireless unfourtunatly had a few issues with their billing system and services which is ultimatly why they were bought out by Cingular. Then, SBC, being the owner of it all, decided (since the FCC approved it) it should all be named AT&T, since AT&T is a world recognized company...So SBC changed its name to AT&T Landline, and Cingular was changed to at&t Mobility (notice the lower case and mobility instead of wireless, yeah, thats the big change up), now all one name, but still seperate divisions.
