Default Cingular/att phone... call some number to get better service???

I need to get better service on it and I've heard of calling some star something number to pick up more towers. Any one know of one that works?

Or can anyone tell me another way to get better service on a phone. It's a RAZR.

Dial *22899. This will re-load the phone's list of "nearest" towers. Most people should do this about once a month on GSM networks; it extends battery life, too, since the phone isn't having to "work" so hard to get to its home tower.

The only other way is to simply BE near more towers; a tower has an effective radius of about 5 miles, most of the time. You can view AT&T/Cingular's coverage map at http://www.wireless.att.com/coverageviewer/
Just fill in your information, and it should zoom in to that area.

*22899 is not an option with GSM...those codes are applicable for CDMA technology fons only. To update your GSM fon, you simply power cycle. However, then last portion of HILDY's post is a bit more accurate. If you're in a poor coverage area, theres nothing you can do to improve that service yourself. If you're in a good service area and still have issues, you may look into replacment of the SIM card and/or phone.
