It depends on:

(1) Your location
Go to a store a check the Tracfone package of the phones your interested in for the following codes:
Here is what the different market codes mean.
GSM4 - You will get AT&T
GSM5 - You will get T-Mobile
GSM5AT - You will get T-Mobile (NYSE: DT) or AT&T
(Determine which carrier Tracfone will use for your coverage area.)
Once you know the code check the coverage maps on ATT and T-mobile websites to determine which of the two carrier is best.

(2) Air time price
Tracfone has higher costs per minute. The lowest is a $19.99 card-60 minutes at 33 cents/minute. The most comparable T-Mobile card is the $25-130 minutes at 19 cents/ minute.

In general, T-Mobile is better for $100 you get 1000 minutes good for 1 year and a $10 refill will give you another year of service. Tracfone gives you 400 minutes for $99.99.

I have Trac and the Motorola (NYSE: MOT) C261 and T-Mobile to on a Nokia (NYSE: NOK) 3390b and a Nokia 6030. I used the camera on the C261 to take pictures of my classroom whiteboard to capture my notes and allow me to incorporate new problems raised by my students.
