Default new years eve, verizon cell phones not working?!?

last night, me and everyone i was with who had a Verizon (NYSE: VZ) cell phone couldn't send text messages. then my phone was on the whole time, at 130 seven text messages came in! and they wsere "stored" like my phone was off when it wasn't. did this happen to anyone else?!?!
