Verizon cell phone work in France?

Will my Cell phone from Verizon (NYSE: VZ) Wireless work in France/ Ireland? I know I can't charge it there but I'm worried I won't be able to use it.

My daughter went to England and Ireland 2 years ago. We called Verizon (NYSE: VZ) and they sent me to a place that sells cell phones good overseas. She could not use her regular Verizon phone in Europe. This overseas phone cost me a fortune but I could reach her any time and it was worth it for that. (By the way, she LOVED Ireland.)

Well, yes it will work if u get a roaming plan, a roaming plan is for your phone to work in another country, so i suggest you get that till your in France, so it might cost a little extra with this plan. But if you want your cell phone to work than get this plan. I have tried this with my AT&T phone. I got a roaming plan and it worked and I went to France.
Don't forget to call the compant to get this plan when u go to France. If u want to charge your phone in France all you have to do is go to a store near wear you live and get a plug-in outlet converter, by getting this, it lets u plug your phone with its plug-in outlet cord from the United states and that goes into the France plug-in out let, it has a special thing. Just go to Radio Shack or Best Buy to get this

Not unless you have a phone that SPECIFICALLY works in both the US AND EUROPE.

My uncle had to buy a special phone because he flew all over the globe for business...

There is something about the signals used in the US vs the signals used in Europe...

I don't remember the details...

Contact Verizon (NYSE: VZ) and check...

It isn't Verizon that is the issue, but if YOUR PHONE is able to use EVERYONE'S signals...
