I don't know if you care about this, but Verizon (NYSE: VZ) just settled a huge pregnancy discrimination lawsuit. If I were searching for a phone company,I would never support a company that discriminates in such a large way.

Verizon InPulse is very expensive. $.99/day even if you don't use the phone, then $.10 per minute. Virgin Mobile's Minute2Minute plan is $.25/min for the first 10 minutes you talk, and then $.10/min after that. Soon it will be a flat rate of $.18 on that plan though. It depends if Virgin covers your area though, because as an above poster said, it runs on Sprint (NYSE: S) and their coverage is more limited.

They use the same network. Virgin is a virtual company, in that they lease service off the Verizon (NYSE: VZ) network. No matter what you will have crappy CDMA (old technology) service. I would recommend either T-Mobile (NYSE: DT) or cingular.
