Default Can you change your Verizon cell phone number if you move to a different state?
I live in CA and will be moving to WA soon. When I move, I want to be able to change my cell number to a local WA area code and number.

I know I could just call Verizon (NYSE: VZ) to find out, but I figured I would look here first to see if anyone has done this and if so, did it cost anything and would I have to be in another 2 year contract? I have been with Verizon (actually GTE Mobile at the time) since 1997 and still have my original #. When I move, I want to have a new start and have a number with WA's area code.

Oh, my contract doesn't end until April 2010.

Yes you can. They cannot get you to sign a new 2-year contract and it doesn't cost a dime

I moved to a dif state and was charged I think it was 15.00 and that was it. I then realised that I had a few older friends with home phones and not cells so they couldnt call me for free anymore. But no, no extention of contravct needed.
