| I got my Virgin Mobile (NYSE: VM) Broadband a few months ago and have had nothing but problems since. The connection is always dropping out, and based on my research, this is a common problem with this service. Problem: I will be browsing the web, and then suddenly websites will not be able to be displayed and it prompts that I should check my connection. When I check the Virgin Broadband program console, the download speed is at 0 KB/s, and even when I refresh pages, this stays the same. When I disconnect, and then reconnect from Virgin Broadband, it works again for a maximum of a couple of minutes, and then I have to repeat the whole procedure again. I do this a minimum of 20 times per each hour of browsing. It sucks. I have good reception/signal quality, so that is definitely not the reason. Based on my research, it appears that Virgin "oversell" their services, and I can believe that. Based on that fact, it would appear that there's nothing you can do about it. I have recently come to the conclusion however, that when I physically download something (other than websites loading), the connection seems to stay active with no problems. Does anyone know why this may be? I was thinking that I could download a file with a download manager that is really big, and speed limit the download to 1KB/s, but the only problem with that is that it will eventually chew up my 5GB allowed, and that if this does work to keep the connection alive, something else may fix the problem? Need computer smart people to help!! Thanks in advance. |
